Will they trade verses? Go back and forth word-for-word until they come together for a combined “home of the brave”? Will some lyrics be sung with Sullivan’s deep soulful voice and others with Church’s country twang and timber? We won’t know until February 7th, but with a duo like that, I’m as curious to see how that goes as I am to see who will be crowned Super Bowl 55 champs. I’m no expert or well-known vocalist, but this is odd. If you’re not familiar with either of their music, Jazmine Sullivan falls into the R&B, hip hop, and soul genres, while Eric Church is well known for his country and county rock music. The national anthem at Super Bowl LV will be performed by Grammy-nominated artists Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church. While that might seem normal enough, the NFL picked an unusual pair for the performance. That’s right, this will be the first the national anthem has ever been performed as a duet.
Two artists will sing this year’s national anthem. From the pregame show with the inaugural poet, Amanda Gorman, to the halftime show with The Weeknd, the Super Bowl will have something for everyone, including the national anthem. Super Bowl 55 is again filled with great artists that will help make for a memorable night even if you’re not into the Kansas City Chiefs vs.
